Chess Maestro  Balakrishna prabhu himself

Chess Master Balakrishna Prabhu has a degree in Engineering and he spent 8 years in the field of Information Technology in a reputed Software company. He founded Champions Chess Academy in 2009 with a view to impart training to children in the game of Chess. He is an international  FIDE – rated chess player.  Balakrishna Prabhu won the Karnataka State Sub – Junior Chess championship. He was three times the top-ranked Chess player in the Karnataka State Junior Chess championship. He also represented Karnataka in National Junior and Sub-junior Championship three times. He has trained more than 2000 children as of now. 30 of them are FIDE – rated players and 10 of them are National Players

Achievements 

Champions Chess Academy was started in May 2009. The main target audience was children in the age group of 5 to 15 years of age. Soon, there was demand from a number of schools to conduct Chess. Workshops for students as well as teachers. Based on popular demand, the activities were expanded to the world of business. A number of neighbourhood centres wanted to offer Chess training for children in their respective neighborhoods. CCA has trained several of them.

Amazing Events and camps  

(a) Conducted summer camp every year for the last ten years.(b) Conducted monthly tournaments regularly for children from 2009 to date.
(c)Conducted summer camps for kids in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. (d)Conducted Oracle tournament thrice. We have conducted Grandmaster coaching by Sriram Jha.
(e)We have conducted Chess Camps for the 10th year consecutively. 13 We have now taught more than 2,000 students chess at different levels.(f). Karnataka two budding grandmasters, Raghunandan, and Ojas Kulkarni, have visited the Champions’ Chess Academy.
(g) Pooblesh Anand, IM, has played in one of our “Corporate Tournaments” of Champions’ Chess Academy.Grandmaster Tejas Bakre from Gujarat is one of our valued visitors.

Student achievement 

1. 30 of our students attained FIDE rating.
2. 7 of our students represented Karnataka in nationals.
